Restore The Earth

“One of the first conditions of happiness is that the link between man and nature shall not be broken.”

—Leo Tolstoy

Earth Day has grown into a global celebration that focuses on educating people about Environmental issues and raising awareness of what can be done to conserve the Earth.

On the occasion of Earth Day celebrated on 22nd April every year, Little Florian’s participated with great zeal and enthusiasm in the webinar on the topic “Restore Our Earth”. This initiative was carried out to raise awareness among children to preserve and

conserve the environment, develop a sense of accountability and think about their local community that is, to further boost their “climate literacy”

The highlight of the event was the Eco- Ambassadors who took the onus of the event into their hands. Our climate warriors- Tithi Sharma (X- D), Samya Singh (X-H), Kshitiz Mangal (X-D), and Adya Jain (X-D) reared the conversation towards the hot topic ‘ How to eliminate the Use of Single Plastic’.

Experts from the team of Waste Management and Recycling Society (WMARS), a Non Profit organization that aims for the betterment of society and the environment, formed the panel that educated learners on how to live more sustainably on our home planet and explored the connections between Earth’s atmosphere, water cycle, forests, fields, cities, ice caps, use of bio-degradable/non-biodegradable products, and our climate.

Ms. Deepali Sinha (President, WMARS ) and Dr. Priyank Arya (Vice-President, WMARS) guided the children on how to act effectively upon the various environmental issues that the world faces today.

Mr. Sachiv Kumar (Project Coordinator, WMARS ) and Ms. Akshada Rawat (Youth Club Head, WMARS) taught the students that initiating simple steps in their daily lives can help save energy to a great extent.

It was a sight to behold when, despite the adverse circumstances created due to pandemic, the entire school community- the tiny tots, senior students, teachers, and Management, came together on the virtual platform to discuss the worth of our mother nature and the steps that we could take to minimize the damage that has been caused to her.

Principals, Vice-Principals, Directors, Managing Director, and teachers appreciated the efforts of the little Florians who pulled off this feat due to their sheer hard work and passion for the event. They also lauded the presence of parents who were not only passive spectators but active participants in the webinar. The Managing Body motivated all to work in unison and to think of innovative ways that can bring a radical change to the earth we all reside in.

The webinar was a huge success, empowering the Little Flower family with substantial knowledge of the environment and its importance.

“Education is like wildfire, a small spark can ignite a whole flame.”

In the contemporary era, it seems strange when someone is bereft from the gift of knowledge yet, there are millions of children for whom education is still a dream. Economic backwardness, financial instability are some of the reasons due to which a child sometimes never gets to read or write.

In this scenario, it falls upon the youth to empower the society by taking the responsibility of educating others on their shoulders. Little Florians are proud members of one such initiative “Each one, teach one”

All the students of class IX-XII of the 2019-20 batch taught at least one member from the vulnerable community as part of their holiday homework. The learning was spread over an hour in the premises of their home.

They also took this as an opportunity to sensitize the people about the groundbreaking program by the Indian Government called “Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan” and encouraged the parents of children from economically weaker sections to send their children to school.

In this way, they influenced the lives of hundreds of children.

This initiative made the Little Florians realize their social, moral, and ethical responsibility as dutiful citizens of the country and encouraged them to make the change they want to see in the world.
